Göta Trägårdh (1904-1984) is reckoned as one of the prominent figures in Swedish fashion and textile design. Together with Anders Beckman she started the Beckmans College of Design in 1939 where she taught subjects such as pattern composition and fashion drawing. At the same time she worked as a designer, fashion illustrator, stylist and costumier. From the 1940s onwards she developed her role as a consultant, designer, colourist and artistic director with Swedish textile companies as her clients. In the last five years of her life she was a freelance designer for Borås Wäfveri.
