Lena Boije

Like many Swedes, Lena has always nutured a keen appreciation of the beauty of wild flowers. Perhaps the long Swedish winter heightens the senses when summer comes. But simply looking was never enough for Lena. She went further, making detailed water colour studies that helped bring light and colour to dark winter months. In the seventies, stimulated by the work of William Morris and other, she began to experiment with patterns developed from her water colours. Suddenly she realized that she had found her vocation in the intricasies of colour, pattern and repeat.
